Prayers for the people

by

One of the duties for the deacons at Pilgrim Lutheran Church is to write prayers for the Sunday services.  The prayers are so lovely, I’m going to start posting them.  The prayers below were written by Deacon Marsha Foss for Sunday, February 28, 2010.

With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, for those in need, and for all of God’s creation.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Keep us mindful of your children in all parts of the globe.  Keep us steadfast in our desire to strive for justice and peace in the world and justice and peace among all nations.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Be with your children all over the earth experiencing the effects of natural disasters.  This morning we remember those suffering in Haiti and now in Chile.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We ask a special blessing on our sister congregation, Luganga Lutheran Church in Tanzania.  Hear our prayers for them as they pray for us.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Amen.
